New Releases: Newport Jazz in Central Park

When the Newport Jazz Festival descended upon New York City in 1973, George Wein presented concerts in Central Park for the only time in the festival's history. You can now stream and download three sets recorded during that run including performances from Larry Coryell, the "godfather of fusion," playing with the Foreplay Quartet; Gerry Mulligan's Age of Steam, an 18-piece jazz juggernaut; and the Charles Lloyd Quintet playing Coltrane-esque excursions and transcendental jams.
