Pharoahe Monch's pace-shifting, booming flow has carved out its own space in hip-hop's history. On "Black Hand Side," Monch goes for a peculiarly mellow approach. The symphonic beat may have something to do with it, as does the sweet singing of former Little Brother member Phonte.
But for those concerned that the song may be mired in sensitivity, remember that Styles P is here on the track to keep things gruff, and Pharoahe's ferocious roar, though reduced a bit here, nevertheless peeks out during his consonant-popping verse. "Black Hand Side" is from Monch's forthcoming album, W.A.R. (We Are Renegades), which drops March 22nd on Duck Down. Download this song
