With thousands of club, festival, and arena stages under his boots since playing his first gig at 14 years old, country music superstar Jason Aldean has been announced as a headliner of the Winstock Country Music Festival for Saturday, June 11 in Winsted, Minnesota.
Aldean's newest album, "My Kinda Party" was released Nov. 2 and moved an impressive 193,000 units its first week, earning the biggest first week debut by a male vocalist in over three years. After selling nearly four million copies of his first three albums, the 15-track disc builds on the sound that brought him to the party, while continuing to push the boundaries of country music with his own unique style.
Aldean is currently nominated for two American Music Awards in the "Favorite Male Country Artist" and "Favorite Country Album" categories, as well as "Male Artist of the Year" at the American Country Awards. He will also be honored as one of five CMT Artists of the Year with a television special on the network in December. Some of Aldeans' hits include "My Kinda Party," "Crazy Town," "Big Green Tractor," "She's Country," "Amarillo Sky," and "Hicktown."
Darius Rucker recently had his fourth number one country song with " Come Back Song off his latest album, "Charleston, S.C. 1966," which was released October 12. The album also debuted at the top of the Billboard Country Albums Chart at number with over 100,000 album sold in the first week. Rucker will be closing down the show Friday night June 10 at Winstock 2011.
Rucker's debut country album, "Learn to Live," produced three number one hits: "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" (two-week number one), "It Won't Be Like This For Long" (three-week number one), "Alright" and also the top five "History in the Making," all of which were co-penned by Rucker. His latest single, "This," is at radio now making its way up the charts.
With those songs under his belt, Rucker feels pretty grateful these days . . . grateful that the millions of fans who also knew him as the voice of Hootie & The Blowfish, the Grammy-winning group whose album "Cracked Rear View" sold more than 16 million copies, happily followed the singer/songwriter in his natural evolution to country music.
