As we did in the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake, Music for Relief compiled a digital album of amazing music for you to enjoy. We ask that you make a $10 donation and that you also help us by telling your friends about it.
I was deeply saddened by the images of devastation from Japan, as were my band mates. We hope that you will join us and the other 13 artists involved with this campaign to help alleviate the suffering of children and families in Japan.

American icon Tony Bennett will celebrate his 85th birthday this fall with a new album, Tony Bennett: Duets II -- to be released September 20th. Bennett has already begun the live recording process with several artists during Grammy week in February at LA's famed Capitol Studios. Subsequent sessions are planned for this Spring in New York, Nashville and Italy. Tony Bennett: Duets II, produced by Phil Ramone follows up Tony Bennett Duets: An American Classic, the 2006 Grammy Award-winning album which became Bennett's best-selling recording to date.

Alone, Tony Bennett is legendary. In partnership with another singer, he's extraordinary. A sterling, all-star roster will join Tony live in the studio including Mariah Carey, Natalie Cole, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones and Amy Winehouse. Some of country's biggest names will also join the round-up including Faith Hill, Willie Nelson and Carrie Underwood.
From the international pantheon: angel-voiced tenor Andrea Bocelli from Italy and Latino singer-songwriter Alejandro Sanz from Spain. Josh Groban and John Mayer are also slated to collaborate with Bennett as well as Michael Buble and k.d. lang, who were both featured on the original Duets album.
"I love the Great American songbook and have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to introduce many of these songs to the public... It is a thrill to perform them once again with artists that I admire to create new interpretations of the music I love so much," says Bennett.

Rodrigo Y Gabriela - Pirates of the Caribbean 4 Soundtrack
Rodrigo Y Gabriela are proud and excited to announce a new musical venture. After months of hints and rumours they can now confirm that one of the summer’s most highly anticipated blockbuster movies, “Pirates of the Caribbean
: On Stranger Tides” will features original music by Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer and Rod and Gab.
The score for Pirates of the Caribbean 4 brings together one of the most respected and sought-after composers (an Academy Award winner with a further eight additional Oscar nominations for films such as Gladiator, Inception, The Dark Knight, Batman Begins to name but a few) and the premier guitar playing duo in the world – Rodrigo Y Gabriela.
Speaking on the creative process Zimmer recently said, 'The way we’re working, the three of us are sitting in a room, I play average keyboards and they play brilliant guitars and we’re writing cues together. There’s a force, a ferocity, about their sound.'
You will be able to hear the fruits of their labours when Walt Disney Records release the soundtrack for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides on May 17, 2011.
The movie, once again starring Johnny Depp as captain Jack Sparrow, joined for this outing by Penelope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush and Ian McShane, will follow in theaters on May 20, 2011.

In a celebration of the passion and rhythm of the guitar, this extraordinary concert brings the orchestra together with Rodrigo y Gabriela in the illustrious and famous setting of the magnificent Hollywood Bowl – site of some legendary concerts through the years. These two shows will surely be added to that list. Joining Rod and gab for the two concerts will be the blistering Spanish sounds of Buikaand Javier Limón.

Friday’s lineup features two newcomers to the HJF. Joining them will be the legendary Chaka Khan and smooth jazz superstar Boney James.

Inspired by New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, "Help Is On The Way" resonates with what is happening now in Japan as well as the recent flooding in Australia. "Architects" speak of a generation of people designing the world we want to live in, and in revolutions in Egypt and other places in the middle east, we can see those very Architects shaping the future and laying down the foundations for a new model. "Disparity By Design" discusses income disparity, and we see that design to keep the rich rich and the poor poor, as well as the push back against it happening now in Madison, WI. I couldn't imagine this song without his voice on it. This song was meant to be the follow up single to "Sooner Or Later" (off the album that never was, Everything Comes and Goes.) I'm so disappointed that it was never released as I was really looking forward to filming the video with Dwight. Maybe next time ;)

David Gray New UK Dates Announced
Following the completion of his sold out US tour last week, David Gray has announced details of his highly anticipated "Lost And Found" tour coming to the UK. Kicking off on Friday May 27 in Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall, the tour will bring fans a show unlike anything David has done before. His series of intimate acoustic evenings will centre around the songs from his current album, and US Billboard Top 10, Foundling, and also include reinterpretations of songs both large and small from his entire catalogue. The run of exclusive shows culminates at London's Royal Festival Hall on Monday, June 6.

The major change is the season's earlier start and finish, as recommended by the Commissioner's Special Committee for On-Field Matters. Those five games will open the season on March 31 after a shortened Spring Training, followed by 11 April 1 games. The season's final regularly scheduled games will be played on Wednesday, Sept. 28 -- all in the interest of not playing baseball into November.
"The challenges of our scheduling are considerable, but I shared the committee's desire to make the necessary adjustments to assure that postseason baseball does not extend beyond October," Commissioner Bud Selig said.

JOHN MELLENCAMP TO TOUR EUROPE FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 1992
For the first time in 19 years, John Mellencamp is set to tour the UK and Europe with dates set for late June and July 2011. The No Better Than This tour is designed as a uniquely formatted "evening with," and brings Mellencamp's music to theatre-sized venues, a rare opportunity to experience one of America's most iconic songwriters and performers in an intimate setting, highlighting all phases of his artistry.
The new No Better Than This Tour dates will take in Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Ireland, UK, France, Italy, Switzerland.

The tour will feature both classic material associated with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee's 35+ year long career as well as new music from No Better Than This, released last year by Rounder Records and produced by T Bone Burnett. The album has garnered great critical acclaim with Q stating, "Veteran blue-collar songsmith goes back to basics... with Mellencamp relishing his role as grizzled troubadour steeped in Rootsy traditions of America's rural south."
As a reflection of the diversity of styles and material that have been a hallmark of Mellencamp's eclectic career, the concerts are formatted into three segments. These showcase John Mellencamp in an acoustic context, fronting a small combo recalling blues/country and rockabilly roots and with his full rock band.
Of special note is the fact that the tour's "opening act," is a documentary film by Kurt Markus entitled It's About You. Shot on Super8 film over the course of 2009's Bob Dylan-John Mellencamp-Willie Nelson tour of minor league baseball stadiums, it chronicles the creation of No Better Than This.

Trans-Siberian Orchestra PBS Special THE BIRTH OF ROCK THEATER is part of special programming premiering on PBS stations
LEGENDARY BAND CAPTURED LIVE FOR THE FIRST TIME ON TELEVISION
Since they first hit the stage 12 years ago, Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) has grown into one of the largest touring acts in the world by doing something completely different from every other group. People can't seem to explain what they do; they just tell you "you just have to see it to understand it." TSO creator Paul O'Neill, who calls it "Rock Theater," presents the past, present and future of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra through live video and interview segments taken over the last couple of years during their annual Winter Tour and from their debut of Beethoven's Last Night, filmed in Dallas, Texas, on May 2, 2010.
TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA: THE BIRTH OF ROCK THEATER is part of special programming premiering on PBS stations across the country. The material for "Rock Theater" began when Paul O'Neill and TSO set their sites on one of the most beloved and important composers the world has ever known - Ludwig van Beethoven. O'Neill explains, "I was always fascinated by Beethoven. Beethoven did not come from a rich family, made his way to Vienna which at that time was the capitol of the musical world, and by the time he was 21 was recognized as one of the greatest piano players in the world by the likes of Mozart. By the time he was 25, he realized he was going completely deaf and if he had just crawled into a corner and given up on life, nobody would have judged him harshly. But instead he went on to write some of the greatest music that has ever been created, music that would bring joy, happiness, peace to countless billions people but that he himself would never hear."
O'Neill's Beethoven's Last Night combines 50% what actually happened with perhaps 50% what might have happened to create a fascinating tale of Beethoven's final evening. To pay tribute to the great composer TSO fused together many of his most enduring melodies with new hard rocking instrumentals. They also wrote several originals to create a theatrical experience that, combined with arena rock, takes the art form to unprecedented levels. The special will focus on O'Neill's vision for TSO and how he went about creating this new art form. It will also feature live performances from "Beethoven's Last Night" as well as their most recent album "Night Castle" which debuted at #5 on the Billboard Charts.
Since they first hit the stage 12 years ago, Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) has grown into one of the largest touring acts in the world by doing something completely different from every other group. People can't seem to explain what they do; they just tell you "you just have to see it to understand it." TSO creator Paul O'Neill, who calls it "Rock Theater," presents the past, present and future of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra through live video and interview segments taken over the last couple of years during their annual Winter Tour and from their debut of Beethoven's Last Night, filmed in Dallas, Texas, on May 2, 2010.
TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA: THE BIRTH OF ROCK THEATER is part of special programming premiering on PBS stations across the country. The material for "Rock Theater" began when Paul O'Neill and TSO set their sites on one of the most beloved and important composers the world has ever known - Ludwig van Beethoven. O'Neill explains, "I was always fascinated by Beethoven. Beethoven did not come from a rich family, made his way to Vienna which at that time was the capitol of the musical world, and by the time he was 21 was recognized as one of the greatest piano players in the world by the likes of Mozart. By the time he was 25, he realized he was going completely deaf and if he had just crawled into a corner and given up on life, nobody would have judged him harshly. But instead he went on to write some of the greatest music that has ever been created, music that would bring joy, happiness, peace to countless billions people but that he himself would never hear."

Jonny Greenwood Norwegian Wood [Soundtrack]
The soundtrack for Norwegian Wood, director Tran Anh Hung’s film adaptation of Haruki Murakami’s bestselling novel, features an instrumental score by Jonny Greenwood performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Emperor Quartet, as well as three tracks written and performed by '70s rockers Can. The Observer calls Greenwood's score "remarkable."

On May 17th, Virgin Records will release Give Till It's Gone, Ben Harper's 10th studio album. It was recorded at the Los Angeles studio of Jackson Browne, who harmonizes with Ben on "Pray That Our Love Sees The Dawn." The album also features two tracks co-written and performed with Ringo Starr - the psychedelic-tinged "Spilling Faith" and "Get There From Here," an improvisational instrumental.
