LA trio Foster The People's "Pumped Up Kicks" has a chorus that is sort of bringing us back to the elementary school yard, although the envy over The Reebok Pump was usually ameliorated through thrown sticks, not guns. The original is easy, breezy, carefully picked guitar with sparkly synths and megaphone muted vocals. And while the song is about a threat, it's lacking any aggression. Electro luminary, MNDR's remix transforms the drive home form the beach vibe of the track with the use of a heavy, deliberate bassline, new layers of percussion and an emphasis on the vocals.
